How Goodyear Tires Are Made

goodyear tire

Whenever we talk about tires, the name Goodyear Tires do not get left behind. Goodyear is a name that everyone can trust in the radial technology and Goodyear has far exceeded the expectations of its consumers for all types of tires that they manufacture. One of the two largest technical centers of Goodyear is located in Akron, Ohio, whose completion occurred in 1983. The other is in Luxembourg, Europe.

Perhaps what Goodyear Tires does differently is found in its Radial tire production. This production starts off with raw materials like pigments, chemicals, rubber—30 different kinds, at least—bead wires, and many more. These basic kinds of rubber are mixed with oils, carbon pigments, and with additives and accelerators to form a chemical compound.

These compounds are then mixed in giant containers or blenders called Banburies. After mixing these compounds, they turn into a gummy-like material that will be later on used in the production of tires after they have been milled again. These rubber compounds can take many forms but Goodyear Tires form them into slabs and they are taken into breakdown mills. These rubber slabs are rolled to make them even and are then slit into strips. These strips can become either sidewalls or treads.

Sound pretty simple? Well, there certainly are techniques and formulas that are not revealed to anyone but executives of Goodyear. These are the secrets why Goodyear manufactures the best tires in the world. All we can do is to buy the products and enjoy safe driving.
